The koi or nishikigo of Japanese descent holds infinite meanings to visual artist Ramon Diaz.

They are bearers of memories past, manifestations of bold presence and even foretellers of imminence. This time, they are a symbol of a beginning, in the crack of dawn, a stroke of luck glimpsing in in time for a new day.

The artist has captured the mesmerizing gentleness of the movement of the koi upwards some towards you emphasized in the glittery, fluttering scales as the koi wades towards the light. The artist has rendered the koi often in unison that suggests the burst of warmth and enthusiasm in a community, highlighted in their golden, yellow hues often in contrast with a bold background of blue, white or black.

Ramon Diaz (b.1944) just recently joined the SAB Expo (Septembre Animalier Bruxelles) in Belgium showcasing his best-known kois. Mr. Ramon Diaz's work is represented by G&O Art Agency in USA and Europe. The agency showcased his works in prestigious museums and luxurious hotels such as the Steuben Glass in Manhattan, New York and also in Sofitel Philadelphia.

Ramon Diaz did commissioned works for top corporations and hotels in Asia including the Novotel Hotel Group, the Hyatt Manila Hotel and Casino and the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company.

Charlie's Art Gallery is hosting the artist's 2nd one man show in Negros Occidental, "Dawn of a Lucky Day", opening on September 30, 2017. Exhibit will run for a month.
