The first one man exhibition in the new location of Charlie's Art Gallery at Italia Restaurant – Mandalagan is by Multi-awarded artist James Gubaton. A series of 20 works graces the walls of the venue.
His paintings, done in his typical surreal and somber style, incorporates local traditions such as the Masskara festival. Negros landscapes and cultural influence, which he delves into in each piece.
James Gubaton is a grand prize winner of PLDT - 16th visual arts national competition, a grand prize winner of Art Petron national student competition, Metrobank Art and Design Excellence, UE Artist of the Year Awardee, NCCA Gallery, Kulay sa Tubig awardee, Shell National Awards among many others. He is an active member of the Saturday Group of Artists. As an artist, James is challenged by the changing landscapes and cultures, which he unreservedly delves into as he conquers the other's point of view.
He graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of the East in 2003.
