Mention Negrense art and Rodney Martinez comes to mind. Through time, the prolific art of Rodney Martinez became essentially one with the art movement in Negros.

Rodney started painting more than 50 years ago in the early 60!s. He took up Fine Arts at the University of Sto. Tomas under the guidance of famous masters Galo Ocampo, Victorio Edades and Cenon Rivera. In 1975, he helped organize the Art Association of Bacolod as founding member. From then on, Rodney Martinez continuously developed as an artist.

Through time, he emerged as one of the best artists in Negros and in the process, has mounted around fifteen one man shows in various parts of the country. His love and passion for his craft became evident in the years that followed, up to this very day no less.

Year in year out, Rodney consistently produced several masterpieces and the people of Negros bear witness to this. His Almae Matres UST and LCC honored him with the prestigious Most Outstanding Alumni awards.

Today, Italia is privileged to host his most recent one man art show, an exhibition of oil paintings of diverse inspirations “Through Time”.

Artist’s reception is on Saturday, June 30, 2012 5:00 in the afternoon at Charlie’s Art Gallery – Italia Restaurant Bacolod City.
