Jun A. Martinez, renowned Negrense artist, is coming home for an exhibit. The exhibit, Immortal Instant II, is a compilation of recent works of the artist and will run from May 14, 2011 to June 14, 2011.

Jun Martinez is an award-winning impressionist painter who is a core group member of the famed Tuesday Group. Jun has mounted over 23 solo exhibits in prestigious venues in the Philippines and abroad, most notably his sold-out Summers of Childhood series which showcased his luminous renditions of children.

Jun, whose works portray mostly summer outdoor scenes, is recognized for his portraiture and his adroitness in shifting from one medium to another. He was four-times named “One of the country’s top ten watercolorists” in Kulay sa Tubig Invitational Watercolor Exhibit and Competition, and is a past awardee of the Philip Morris Art Award, Diwa ng Sining, and the Metrobank Annual Painting Competition.

Interestingly, Jun has worked extensively on the subject of “myths and legends.” His works depicting Filipino folktale are featured in three volumes of a book series entitled Myths & Legends of the Philippines by Ms. Marlene Aguilar-Pollard. His latest solo show at EDSA Shangri-La unveiled his recent works on the Legend of Mandaluyong, a book by Dr. Partick Alain Azanza.

Jun Martinez’s works grace the covers and spreads of various books, including The Art Collectors’ Guide Book, Art Across the Philippines, 20th Century Filipino Artists, and The Lives and Loves of Artists and Models, all authored by Mr. Manuel Duldulao, and the Encyclopedia of Philippine Art and Fine Artists of the Philippines by Ms. Marlene Aguilar Pollard.
